Waiting game

My due date is fast approaching and I'm finally ready for Evan's arrival. Not that I haven't been looking froward to it all along. I've just really enjoyed my pregnancy. It has been relatively easy so far. Now I'm starting to get uncomfortable. My feet and ankles have really started swelling, so I'm trying to stay full of water. That makes things a little more difficult too because of the frequent trips to the bathroom. For now it looks like I might be induced, probably on Dec. 3. We'll see what the Dr. says on Wednesday at my appointment. As of the last one though I have not had any more progress since the beginning of the month (1 cm, 50% effaced). I'll have an ultrasound when I go in this week. Justin is so excited that we will get a sneak peek at the little guy. Either way the good news is that it will be less than two weeks before we meet him!

Need Sleep

So yesterday I told someone I have no problems sleeping and today I get up at 1 am. What is that all about? I did fall asleep on the couch around 9, but come on. Hopefully, tomorrow night will be better. Right now it doesn't look like I'll be getting any more sleep tonight. Maybe I'm just stressed about getting everything for work done before this baby comes.

Maternity Pics

Here is a sample of the pictures we had done this weekend. I think they look great!

Busy Weekend!

Justin and I didn't do much on Friday night, but were pretty busy for the rest of the weekend. On Saturday morning, we got up bright and early to have his cousin Rebecca take some maternity pictures. It was fun and the pictures are looking really good. From there we went straight home to change shirts for the UH game. Usually there is a pretty long walk to the stadium, so Justin drops me off. He was getting ready to let me out and a parking attendant was asking for parking passes. Justin asked if she was giving them away and mentioned that I was pregnant. She was super nice and gave us a parking pass! The game was pretty good, too. At least the Coogs won. We stopped for a little shopping on the way home and rested until the little goblins started to show up. There are a lot more trick or treaters in the new neighborhood, so that was a lot of fun.

Today was our tour of the hospital. We actually learned quite a bit and have learned that we are not quite ready. Hopefully, Evan will hold off until after my appointment on Thursday since I have some questions. I did have an appointment last Thursday and there was no news. That is good since Justin will be heading to Vegas on Thursday for Keith and Sara's wedding. I'm sad I can't go. After the tour we went to the Galleria for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and shopping for Justin to get some clothes for Vegas. We're back at home now just relaxing and getting ready to start the week.

The Room is Almost Ready!

Chaos!

So there aren't really any decorations on the walls or anything, but at least everything is put together. My mom and I spent most of the day on Saturday organizing the room. If it weren't for Debbie and my mom I don't think I would have made it! I guess Justin had a part in it, too. He did put all the furniture together (with a little help from me).

Yesterday was very busy and I'm so glad I got to meet Lisa's baby, Mark, before I really got going. We hosted a shower at my MIL's house yesterday for Justin's cousin, Christopher's fiancee, Rachel. It was beautiful and I think she got a lot of great things for their home.

Evan's Room

We finally got some of the furniture put together. Justin got the crib and book shelf put together last week. Now Debbie is painting the trim, so we can get the room put together. It should be finished today... at least the furniture part. Now for the decorating! I need to stop by Michael's today to get some letters so I can put his name on the wall.

I think we are taking a trip to Babies R Us today, too. We need to take back some duplicate items and spend a gift card and cash.

We also need to take our chair and ottoman to have it re-upholstered. It will be a busy day. As soon as I get out of this all day workshop.

Movin' On Up

I have graduated to doctor's appointments every two weeks now. How exciting! That means we are getting close. Tomorrow JC Penney will be delivering some furniture, but I'm not sure what. We ordered a kitchen table not long after I ordered Evan's furniture. There was a problem with the payment method though and both shipments left on the same date. Maybe we'll get both at the same time.

We have a big weekend coming up. I have a shower with our families on Saturday afternoon and we have tickets to the UH vs. Tech game. Saturday will be busy and I'm not sure I'll be getting a nap :(

Showered with Love

I want to send a big thank you to all of my girlfirends that hosted my first baby shower. Susan, Kari, Lisa, Jenny, Becky, Amy, Claudia, Kathi, Roxanne and Kelly throw a great party. We missed Roxanne and Kelly! The cake was delicious, the company was fantastic, and I was overwhelmed by all the wonderful gifts. Justin and I will enjoy using it all with Evan once he is here. He will be here before I know it. I can't wait for everyone to meet this little guy, me included!

I passed!

Whew! I don't have the GD... or at least my Metformin is keeping my blood sugar under control. I do, however, have to start taking more iron. The results were borderline, but they said I should add it anyway. I'm in the same boat with Lisa. I'll probably end up with hemorrhoids, though :(

Nursery

I feel like I am so behind. We will at least have furniture though. I finally decided to go with the stuff that costs less from JC Penney. If I'm not happy I can replace it I guess. At least I won't care if it is chewed on or marked on. I got the crib, long dresser, chest and bookcase. Not sure if I need all that, but I think it can be returned.

Here is a link to what I decided to get. I hope I like it!

Mmmm Orange

I loved the orange drink, too. It is kind of like a REALLY sweet orange drink from McDonald's. Of course I was super thirsty and it was cold. Unfortunately, on the day I had to sit in the office for an hour there were only 3 out of the 8 compressors working in the AC. It was even hotter than normal being hopped up on all that sugar I think. After I left I stopped to get some more orange food... Cheetos. I needed some salty carbs to balance out my day. The no carb lunch was gross and I could wait to get some starch in me!
The rest of the appointment was fine. He said my weight gain and blood pressure were all A OK. I've graduated to appointments every three weeks. That means that his arrival is getting really close and I am so not ready. We have not started the nursery or ordered furniture. I probably should have started looking for that as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I'm the worst about committing to semi-permanent purchases (furniture, cars, etc.). My goal is to get it this week. Someone needs to hold me to that!

The Test

My glucose test for GD is this afternoon. Send prayers my way that all will go well. Hopefully, I won't have to take the 3 hour test. It's also the student's first day of school... not a good day to have to leave a little early. I guess they'll make it without me.

Still Kickin'

I have asked Justin if he wants to feel the baby kick several times. He has felt a little bump a couple of times over the past month. Finally, the other night he was convinced he actually felt a kick. Probably because it REALLY was a ninja kick (or punch). I'm still not really sure what I feel and where, hands or feet, elbows or knees. I guess he is probably still doing somersaults in there.

In other happy news, my mom told me last night that my cousin is having a baby boy! He is due about a month and a half after Evan. Congrats Brad and Tina! I'm looking forward to meeting Braden, too.

Baby Names

Picking a name for this bambino is probably the hardest thing I have ever done! The poor kid is stuck with the name forever if it is no good. I thought I was going to be the one that was difficult, but it turns out Justin was 100x worse. We started looking through a baby name book before we knew the sex and started with girls. We didn't make it to boys until we already knew that he was a he. My friends were kind enough to listen to my woes about deciding on a name and providing feedback, but not too much feedback. I felt better after hearing mostly positive reactions to the name that we finally chose....

EVAN JEREMY RAY

The Evan part came from the very short list of names that Justin would agree to (about 5). The Jeremy part is after Justin's brother, Jeremy. Most of you know that he passed away almost two years ago. This baby boy is even due on his birthday. What a special gift!
