Back to Work

Tomorrow is our three year anniversary and the next day I go back to work. I'm sure going to miss getting to snuggle up with my little man during the day. Not that he will let me do that too often. I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer.

I finally posted pictures on smugmug, www.jandaray.smugmug.com

Ticker

Can that be right? Could my baby boy already be 8 months old? It has gone by in a flash. I already miss my baby. I really get upset with myself when I think about all the things he did that I never got on video, knowing he won't do them again. I should have had that thing attached to my hip the whole time. It is just so hard for me to remember to do it all. I bet half of my pictures for the 365 scrapbook are in his PJs. Maybe I'll do a better job with the next one? At least I have it all in my head and have kept a pretty good journal. Hopefully, my words will conjure up the images I have missed catching on film.

On to my organization, the kitchen is done. I still need to go buy some plastic bins for clothes though.

Organized

I'm trying to get everything organized in the very short time before I go back to work. It is so sad that my summer is coming to an end and I won't be able to spend as much time with the little man. Even if a lot of it is in the playpen/bouncer/crib so that I can get some things done around here. At least I can drop what I'm doing and get some love from him whenever I want. So far, I have taken all of Evan's too small clothes and gotten them together. I just need to get some plastic tubs to get them up in the attic. I also got some things together that we just don't use anymore. I need to work on my kitchen, too. I have some things that I didn't have room for in the old house and haven't found a place for here. The point is, I need to get a move on. I'm going back to work on August 4th, which happens to be our 3rd anniversary. Happy anniversary to me! Hopefully, once I get back in the swing of things at work I won't be so upset about having to be there. It will be nice to see my friends again.

Evan is doing great! He started pulling up and walking around the coffee table shortly after he mastered crawling. In the past week or so he has cut another two teeth. Now he has two bottom and two top chompers. He likes all of his baby food, even meat. He is a lot better about eating the little finger foods, too. Still gags, but not quite as much as a few weeks ago. I used to get scared and stop trying after one star or yogurt melt. I'm still working on babyproofing although I did get the plugs covered at least. I need to finish that before I go back to work, too. Justin's cousin, Samantha, is going to be watching Evan now. We are excited that he will be able to sleep in and it will make it easier on Justin and I getting out of the house. I barely got out of the house on time even when Justin was the one driving Evan to Grammy's in the morning. We were late to church on Sunday because I was getting both of us ready by myself. I know that my tardiness is not surprising anyone.

Evan and I are still planning to go to the lake and Dallas. We might even make a stop at the beach for a day, too!

Summer Fun!

This was really the first time Tiny E and I really got out this summer. We have been taking it easy since I got off work a couple of weeks ago. My first weekend off, Evan and I met my mom and her sisters at Canyon Lake. That was a good time and the sisters loved giving the little man attention. He got his first haircut while we were there. Aunt Sue came prepared with her scissors. He just needed a little trim.

We haven't yet, but are looking forward to spending time with friends this summer. Hopefully, we'll get in a little time in Dallas and at the lake.
Evan is mobile now and we won't be able to stop him from anything. I have to finish my baby proofing!

I'm so bad at this!

Maybe I shouldn't have started the at all. Oh well! Evan is doing fabulously in every way. He is getting so big. Evan can roll over (both ways), belly laugh, eat cereal and all the 1st foods I can find, tripod sit, put his toes in his mouth (not a very useful skill) and probably loads of other things I am forgetting. He is such a curious little guy. When he is really concentrating he has a serious look and furrowed brow. If you pick him up be prepared, he will grab your face and eventually try to chew some part of you. He got two teeth in the past two weeks. I am really going to miss that little gummy smile. This growing up thing is happening too fast! I have been back at work for almost two months now and will be off for summer in about four weeks. It can't come fast enough. I'm not a huge fan of working and feel like I never get to see my little man. We are very fortunate that he is able to stay with his Grammy (Justin's mom) during the day. Evan will be six months old in just a couple of weeks. I hope I can start keeping up with this thing a little more, so I'll remember this time in our lives.

Side note... I had the best drink ever the other day. A frozen sweet tea at Cedar Creek. If you are near the Heights check it out. Yummy!

WW

Justin and I started Weight Watchers when Tiny E was 6 weeks old (I'm loving the 10 extra points for breastfeeding :). Great news! Yesterday when I weighed in I had lost a total of 10 lbs. Yea me! Not anywhere near my goal, but less than pre-pregnancy weight. 10 down and about 40 to go. At least I'm moving in the right direction and right after the Superbowl.

Evan has added giggles to his repertoire and it is the cutest thing ever. I'm going to try my hardest to make the most of this last month off work. It looks like if he keeps working on it he will be rolling from front to back soon. I make sure I have the video close everytime we try.

Stats

I forgot to mention Evan's stats from his 2 month well check-up. He is definitely growing! He is weighing in at 11 lbs 12 oz (5oth %ile) and is 24 in (90th %ile).

Portrait Session

Yesterday, Evan had his picture taken at Portrait Innovations. It was totally empty and they were very patient. Note to self... only go in the middle of a weekday. I must say he did pretty well. We even got a few smiles. I'll give you a sneak peek of one of my favorites. For the rest of them, visit our photo site www.jandaray.smugmug.com.

Happy 2 Months Tiny E

Evan was 2 months old on Sunday, his Auntie Rach's birthday. He is super cute and smiling all the time now. We are able to sleep through the night most of the time, too.

A couple of weeks ago we visited my Aunt Linda at the lake. We went to check on Mom and Dad's place, too. Evan enjoyed seeing his Aunt Linda, Aunt Sue and cousins Kim and Kelsey. He also got to meet his cousins Brad and Tina and we both met their son Braden for the first time. He is super cute, too. They will have so much fun playing together as they get bigger.
We are enjoying all the new things that Evan does every day!

I'll leave you tonight (this morning) with some pictures from this month.

Getting accustomed to my new job

Sorry it has been so long since a post. It has been a lot harder to find computer time since Tiny E arrived.
I guess everyone knows that our little bundle of joy arrived two days before his due date and Thanksgiving. After almost 36 hours of labor and 3 hours of pushing, Dr. Cone said it was time for a C-section. I was none too happy, but Evan was stuck and just wouldn't come down. He finally arrived at 2:16 pm weighing in at 7 lbs 14 oz and 21 1/4 in long. His bilirubin was elevated, so he stayed under the heat lamp most of the day Thanksgiving and Friday. We arrived home on Friday evening and were all happy to be home, especially Mom and Dad. It felt good to sleep in our bed. Evan slept in the bassinet and then moved to his own bed the next night.
Our first week at home brought a lot of emotions ending with quite a bit of sadness. My Pop died on Dec. 2nd. I was not able to take Evan to meet him before he passed away, which was hard on me. I know neither of them would have remembered since Evan is too young and my Pop had end stage Alzheimer's. It would have just been a nice photo to have.
We went to Lufkin to celebrate Christmas with my mom's family, Christmas Eve with both of our families and went to Frankiln Christmas Day to see Justin's Mammaw and the rest of the crew. On Christmas Eve our new little cousin, Braden, was born. We are all looking forward to Evan and Braden being able to play together when I visit Tyler.
So far Evan is an angel. We have had some tense moments, but just holding him in my arms brings a smile...even when we are both tired and whiny. There are a couple of bad habits I'm trying to break right now (sleeping after eating and being rocked to sleep). I hope I haven't set myself up for trouble already. Other than that he has taken to eating and sleeping just fine. He is growing fast! Justin and I are so grateful that God has entrusted us to raise this little boy and we are praying that we will do a great job.
